Artist Statement
Inspiration for his art comes, mainly, from his Mexican background and culture. He likes to make art that catches the viewer’s attention. To create work that makes the person stop and pay attention to the combination of colour and textures as the basis to understanding the overall theme of the piece. The nature and properties of materials; their different textures; the different techniques and the results they produce are elements that, when combined with a particular state of mind, become the inspiration for each individual piece he produces. Workmanship (craftsmanship), quality, attention to detail, innovation and creativity, are goals for every project he works on. He is committed to the format of functional art as a vehicle for artistic expression. A piece should express a level more meaningful than words, and reflect emotions, inviting the viewer to give it a narrative.
